To celebrate half a decade of limitless storytelling, we’re inviting you to take the creative stage in two distinct categories: Text Generation and Image Generation.
For the wordsmiths, the Text Generation track challenges you to write or co-write a five-line limerick or poem celebrating NovelAI’s fifth anniversary using our text models. Whether you write about your favorite creative adventures or feature our mascots such as Xialong, or even NAI-chan, your entry must be an authentic, 5 line, English, SFW screenshot taken and uploaded directly inside the NovelAI Screenshot Editor.
For the visionaries, the Image Generation track invites you to unleash your creativity using NovelAI's image models. We want you to drop our mascots, like NAI-chan or any of the text-gen model depictions, straight into a fun, joyful party environment! Get clever with your submission: maybe integrate the phrase "Happy 5th Anniversary NovelAI!" into the scene, iced onto a birthday cake, glowing on a cyberpunk neon sign, or written in a magical spellbook? Or skip the words entirely and let pure celebration imagery like confetti, fireworks, and characters blowing out five candles do the talking!

Use NovelAI's image models to create a joyful, celebratory scene for our 5th anniversary. You can incorporate the phrase "Happy 5th Anniversary NovelAI!" into the image — glowing on a neon sign, frosted on a birthday cake, printed on a t-shirt, or scrawled in a magical spellbook — or skip the text entirely and let the art speak for itself.

Writing Contest!
Use NovelAI's text models to write a 5-line limerick or poem celebrating our 5th anniversary — whether fully AI-generated, co-written, or anything in between. Going the limerick route? Follow the classic AABBA rhyme scheme: introduce your character in lines 1–2, build the situation in lines 3–4, and stick the landing in line 5.
Your story screenshot must be:
• SFW
• Written by the submitter
• Related to the Theme
Your stories may not include:
• Pre-existing IPs of any kind
• Overtly sexually explicit content
Once you've selected a suitable story passage, highlight all text you desire to be featured in your screenshot; we don't limit the visual length of your submission, but, keep your reader's attention span in mind! Then, select the Burger Menu on the very right side, and navigate to the "Take Screenshot" option.
Now, fiddling with the Screenshot Designer's settings can create the perfect visuals for your story excerpt. Captured a bonus snarky or funny comment from our Hypebot? Toggle the setting and include it. Proud of your work? Include your Pen Name and immortalize yourself as the author. Show which parts were contributed by the AI... or don't! Use whichever combination you are most comfortable with.
